Ms. Benton's Classroom Rules


  1. Students must always show respect for the teacher, their classmates and
    themselves.
    - No name-calling or threats will be allowed. Students will not interrupt each
      other or the teacher.
    - There are no bad ideas or opinions in this class.
    - Respect school property at all times.
    - Abide by district computer use agreement.
    - Do not cheat. You will receive a zero and I will not hesitate to call a parent.
     

  2. Students will not waste class time.
    - Students should be prepared for class each day. Bring homework, textbook
      and writing materials to class.
    - Students will stay on task and listen to directions to prevent teacher from
      having to repeat them.
    - Students will arrive on time and will not be dismissed until class is over.
    - Students will attend to “personal business” before entering the classroom.
    - Students will not leave the classroom unless an emergency arises.
     

  3. Talk ONLY when you have MY permission.
    - No idle chitchat is allowed.
     

  4. Students will remain in their assigned seat unless you have permission to get up.
    - No wandering aimlessly around the room.
    - No roughhousing.
     

  5. Absolutely no food, gum or drinks are allowed inside the computer classroom.
     

  6. Students will familiarize themselves with the rules listed in the school
    handbook. These rules will be abided by inside this classroom.

    Classroom Procedures


  7. Homework assignments and the day’s objectives will be posted on the
    whiteboard. Students are to copy these into their agenda books upon taking
    their seats at the beginning of class. Begin work immediately after.
     

  8. Students will place homework and any other assignments due in the homework
    tray on the teacher’s desk.
     

  9. Students will abide by the teacher’s seating arrangement.
     

  10. Students will turn in all assignments ON TIME.  Late work will not be accepted.
     

  11. This classroom will be kept tidy at all times and students will return books and
    other materials to their proper stations and clean up any clutter.
     

  12. Students arriving late for class will enter the classroom with as little
    interruption as possible.
     

  13. Students who were absent are responsible for finding out what they’ve missed.
    I will not come to you.  All excused late assignments are due the following Monday,
    no matter what day was missed during the prior week.
     

  14. Students will refrain from talking when intercom is on.
     

  15. Students will follow previously discussed procedures during emergency
    situations.

Consequences


  1. Students breaking the aforementioned rules will receive only one verbal warning,
    as well as a conference with the teacher.
     

  2. A second occurrence will result in the following:
    - Lunch detention and a conference with the student’s parent.
    - Parent conference with student and teacher.
    - After school detention for one day and parent conference.
    - After school detention for two days and parent conference.
     

  3. Serious problems will be dealt with at administrative discretion.
