Bus Safety Urged as Students Return!

Hot Springs School District is pleased to join other districts across the state and the Arkansas Department of Education for this year's school bus safety campaign.  The three week event begins Monday, August 8 with the purpose of reminding drivers to be mindful of student safety throughout the year.  Staying alert and obeying all traffic laws whenever a school bus is in the immediate vicinity can go a long way in what has proven to be the best way to transport school age children to and from school and school-related activities.  As a reminder to motorists, bus drivers activate amber lights at least 300 feet as a warning that the bus is about to come to a complete stop.  The flashing red lights and stop sign are engaged upon the opening of the door.  State Law requires all vehicles from all sides to stop and remain stopped until the red lights are shut off.  Please help keep our students safe by observing this important traffic law and take a moment to thank our district bus drivers.
