College and Career Day a "BIG Success"!

Tuesday, May 19, was the 2nd annual HSSD College & Career Day.  This event is indicative of how the district is determined to impress its vision to graduate students college and career ready.

Students in grades K-6 experienced Careers on Wheels at the Hot Springs Municipal Airport.  The participating professionals represented the following organizations:  Hot springs Fire Department, Hot Springs Municipal airport Emergency Vehicle, Small Airplane, LifeNet Helicopter, ESPN 96.3 Radio, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Hot Springs Police Department, Arkansas Game and Fish, Garland county Library, City Inter-Transit, City Sanitation Recycling, Jackson House, Quality Air Care, Greater Miss Hot Springs Aubrianna Burroughs , Garland County Sheriff, and Arkansas 911.

Students in grades 7-8 and 10-11 experienced a College & Career Fair at Hot Springs High School.  Each group heard Miss Arkansas Ashton Cambell open with her platform on higher education.  The participating professionals represented the following organizations:  Garland county Juvenile Court, National Park College, NPC - Business Division, UALR, UALR-Office of Admissions, Career Watch Arkansas, UAPB, Arkansas Promise, SAU-Magnolia, ASU-Beebe, Personal Trainer, Gentiva Volunteer Coordinator, Freedom Chiropractic Clinic, Countryside Animal Hospital, Hot Springs National Park, Vector Marketing, Regions Bank, Berry Plastics, SAU Tech, Garland County Habitat for Humanity, Extension Office, HSU, Garland County Cares, YMCA, and U of A.

Students in grade 9 experienced a Reality Fair put on by the Garland County Educator's Federal Credit Union.
