Gardner EAST Monarch Butterfly Project

The Gardner STEM Magnet EAST students are participating in a Monarch Butterfly project. Working with Robin Gregory and Jeff Hayhurst from Native Expeditions, Angie Babbit from Monarch Watch, and Mitzi Cole of the US Forest Service, the project entails the migration, feeding habits, and habitat most preferred by the species. EAST students recently planted Milkweed (a favorite of the Monarch),  in various campus gardens to entice the butterflies to "drop in" as an unknowing research participant.  As part of the research, the EAST @ Gardner students are gathering information to educate others about the Monarch Butterflies through documenting their experiences with reports and taking photos during the planting activity.
