HSHS Soccer Captures First State Title

The 2016 Hot Springs High School Boys Soccer team completed its season at Razorback Soccer Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas by capturing the Class 5A State Championship with a 4-2 win over top seeded East Conference Valley View.  The Trojans with only two conference loses in regular season play, began 5A state tournament play as the second seed from 5A South with 6-1 wins over Batesville and Greenbrier in the first and quarterfinal rounds respectfully, before defeating fellow conference member Lakeside, 3-2 in semi-final action.  The draw of the brackets for the Hot Springs/Lakeside co-sponsorship of the 5A tournament allowed all three games to be played at Hot Springs' Joe Reese Memorial Stadium.  Valley View worked its way to the finals by winning its first three games, including defending 2015 Champion and 5A South conference member DeQueen in the other semifinal game at Lakeside High School's stadium.  The 2016 Championship game served as a rubber match between the two schools after the Trojans defeated the Blazers in the 2015 tournament.  Erick Guadron was named as the MVP of the 2016 Championship game.

The Soccer Championship provides Hot  Springs High School a second state title in as many years, the Girls Basketball team winning a title in 2015. Congratulations Trojan soccer coaches and players.  TROJAN PRIDE RUNS DEEP!!!!!!
